What
does a stand-in do?
A stand-in does almost exactly
that – they stand in (although sometimes they sit in, or
lie in) for the actors when preparing a scene. A lot of
work goes into preparing the camera and the lights, and
they need somebody similar to the cast (especially height
and hair color) to ensure that when the actor is brought
back onto set, he or she will look their best!
If you like filmmaking, and
want to be in the middle of the set, literally in the middle,
then being a stand-in is a great job for you!

What
does a Photo Double do?
Many times in a film there
will be situations where one or more of the main cast is
in the shot, but they are far away of have almost no action.
At times like this it is not necessary to have the actual
actor come in for a day to be in the background, so they
will use a Photo Double, someone who is
similar in appearance, in his or her place instead. A photo
double will go through the Makeup and Costume the same
as the star, and gets to be in the movie as well!

What does Shadows of
Stars do?
Shadows of Stars, s.r.o., provides
a service in the Prague Filmmaking community that, up until
now, has been left off as a sort of side note. Most stand-ins,
and photo doubles, have been cast through normal extra casting
agencies. While many times you can get a good stand-in or
photo double, you never really know what you are going to
get! A quality stand-in or photo double can save a production
thousands of dollars over the course of a movie; and a bad
stand-in can cost the production much more than just their
wage. With Shadows of Stars a production can get a large
variety of stand-ins, with plenty of work experience. As
a producer or production manager, can you afford to have
an untrained extra in that roll?
At Shadows of Stars,
we provide quality, trained stand-ins for movies of all
types and budgets! Plus, since we are not involved
in the full time organization of the extras or cast, we
can work with the production to organize and schedule stand-ins
as the movie schedule changes. We help ease the work load
of the AD and the extras coordinators!
